SIMPLE AND SENSIBLE EATING FOR FAT LOSS
Never before have we had so much information about diet and exercise and never before have we had so much bullshit at the same time! Seriously when I think back over the past 30 plus years that I've been doing this stuff, I've seen the entire fitness industry change from being thought of as a weird activity for health nuts to the point where everybody, even kids, are discussing things like the Keto diet, Paleo diet, etc. You know the old expression "A little knowledge is a dangerous thing"? Well it's certainly true when it comes to nutrition.
Honestly it was a lot easier and simpler before the internet. The only people who wrote books and magazine articles were trusted authorities. Now anyone can write stuff. Of course some are knowledgeable and some are complete idiots. There is one so-called fitness expert in Canada who tells people to go on extended fasts. By extended I've heard of people doing a month or two or even longer! Just insane!
There was one author I used to read a lot and I was looking at an article he wrote many years ago for Musclemag International. His name is Clarence Bass and he wrote the Book "Ripped : The Sensible Way To Achieve Ultimate Muscularity". In this article he explained his very simple diet from 1979 that helped him get into top shape. He specifically said that he had tried the low carb diet and had zero energy for his workouts and felt like a zombie. Wanting no more of that, he used this simple but effective diet. Here it is.
BREAKFAST
2 to 3 poached eggs
1 slice of whole grain toast
Cereal:
2 Tablespoons Wheat Germ
5 Tablespoons Bran
1 Tablespoons Sunflower Seeds
1 Tablespoons Raisins
1 Cup Raw Whole Milk
LUNCH
Peanut Butter Sandwich
1 Cup Yogurt
1 Apple or Pear
DINNER
2 to 3 poached eggs
1 slice of whole grain toast
Vegetable salad consisting of various combinations of cabbage, lettuce, celery, tomatoes, cucumbers, squash, green beans, carrots, onions, sprouts, radishes, bell peppers, collard greens, mustard greens, spinach, broccoli, and mushrooms. The dressing was just pepper and apple cider vinegar.
EVENING SNACK
1 cup raw whole milk with a fiber supplement
This is really a very simple, tasty, and nutritious way to eat. You will have plenty of energy for those workouts and you will indeed lose bodyfat and feel great. So as you can see there's no need to over complicate things. Just because something is old, that doesn't mean it isn't still effective. Technology has advanced considerably. However our bodies are still the same and will still respond to what worked 40, 50, 100, or 1000 years ago!
