Owner Spotlight: Chris Wong
I’m Chris Wong, proud owner of Chris Wong Fitness.
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
I have been a trainer since 1995 and have worked in commercial gyms. However, I chose to start Chris Wong Fitness because I wanted to provide fitness solutions for busy parents and professionals who can’t get to the gym.
Back when I was first training people, there was no internet, no blogs, no social media, no websites. It was much more difficult to get my message out there. Now things have changed so much for the better. I can train people anywhere in the world through Online Training as well as locally with In-Home training. These two methods are by far my favorite way to provide the most value in the best way.
In addition to being a trainer, I am also an instructor in Chinese martial arts (a Sifu). The role of a Sifu traditionally has always been like a father figure. In many ways, I see my students and clients as my children, and as a parent, I want to see them succeed. Witnessing the transformation and being able to have a career doing what I love is absolutely the best part of owning this business.
As an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my honesty, integrity, good values and consistency. If someone is in this industry and doesn’t truly care about people and their goals, it will be glaringly obvious! It drives me nuts when I see people in the fitness industry who don’t care. There are plenty of jobs for you if you just want to go along mindlessly. However, this is an industry that requires so much more.
I love helping people reach their goals and improving the quality of life, so, I do the best job I can possibly do and make sure everyone knows about it! I genuinely care about your fitness journey and want the best for you. We have a saying in the martial arts, “The teacher who is not also a student is neither.” Therefore, I try to get as much information out there as possible and to learn for myself continually.
One of my most memorable success stories was helping my client Joshua lose thirty pounds. While losing thirty pounds may sound easy, Joshua was special because he is an amputee in a wheelchair. He is missing both legs, his entire left arm and has only his right arm without a hand. Despite these limitations, we got his weight down by over thirty pounds, increased his core strength significantly, and reduced his visits to his physiotherapist due to his improved fitness and reduction in pain. His transformation has been both inspiring and immensely gratifying.
While fitness is my life, I also enjoy drawing, painting and playing the guitar. I am a card-carrying roller coaster fanatic and also love theme parks and enjoy going to them with my family.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
