Sometimes people approach working out in an incorrect way. Sure structured workouts are essential. And having detailed knowledge of exercises, workout routines, physiology, etc. is necessary if you're going to really make a difference. But there's also a such thing as spontaneity. Many people think that the only time to workout is during your scheduled time. Those are going to be your tough workouts and if you need someone to push and motivate you such as a trainer, that's when you'll need it.
But you can get exercise anytime and anywhere IF you don't think of it as exercise. There's no reason why you can't take the stairs instead of the elevator or why you can't park farther away from the store when you're shopping. How about running and playing with your kids? Don't just sit on a bench while your kids are on the playground. Get up and join them! You can practice your Qigong breathing while you're driving. You can do isometric pulls on the bars while you're riding the train. You can stretch or do some squats while you're waiting for someone. There are so many ways for you to squeeze it in without necessarily making a big production out of it. And each time you do, you're firing up your body, nervous system, lymphatic system, etc. and getting more benefit. Think of it this way. If you do all those things during the week in addition to your scheduled, structured workouts, how much more total activity is that? And how much more benefit is there from that?
