If you want an absolutely insane pump that can supercharge your workouts, then try the 1 and 1/2 TRAINING METHOD! A lot of people are totally unfamiliar with the 1 1/2 training method. It used to be done regularly by the old muscle beach guys in the 1960s, but as they say "What's old is new again". This is a method where you perform 1 full rep followed by a half rep. This will count as 1 rep. By doing this, you are getting a much stronger contraction. You are essentially getting 2 contractions for each rep. It's a great way to get past sticking points or just to add some variety. The beauty of it is that it can be done with just about any type of resistance exercise, either with equipment or bodyweight only. You could do a workout where every exercise is done using the 1 1/2 method. But I feel the better way is to pick an area of focus for each workout. Suppose you wanted to focus on your back muscles. You could start the workout by doing dumbbell or cable rows using the 1 1/2 method, do the rest of the exercises in your routine for your other muscles, and then finish the workout with another back exercise (maybe cable pulldowns) again using 1 1/2 and with lighter weight. Or you could put them together either in straight sets or supersets. There are many ways to use it. Just be sure that you DO use it!
