In the martial art of VING TSUN, the concept of the Centreline is the most important in the entire system. It's the idea that you don't want to go too far forward, backward, left, or right. You also have a physical line going down the middle of your body. When you do any kind of movement, you must strive to move that centreline around with proper focus and breathing. I can't stress this enough!
1) CONTROL YOUR CENTRELINE
2) MOVE WITH YOUR CENTRELINE
3) PRACTICE CORRECT BREATHING
4) MAINTAIN PROPER FOCUS
If there is a such thing as a secret to health and fitness, THIS IS IT!
Then there is another centreline. One that you can't see or feel with the body, but one which is determined by your thoughts and actions. Just as you don't want to move too far forward, backward, left, right, etc, you don't want to dwell on the past, fear the future, be overly aggressive, be too indecisive, too much heat, too much cold, and any other extremes.
Ultimately the concept of the Centreline is not only a concept of fitness and martial arts. It's a way of life!
