There's a big difference between tensing your muscles intentionally and allowing them to tense naturally to the correct degree. You've probable heard people say "TIGHTEN YOUR CORE!" The problem with doing this intentionally is:
1) You will create excessive tension. Too much in fact to be able to feel the muscles being properly worked. Excess tension will inhibit your sensitivity and you won't know how to feel your body working.
2) You will not be able to breathe properly. Intentionally tensing your muscles encourages you to hold your breath!
What you need to do instead is focus on the proper body positioning AND proper breathing. If these things are in place, then your body will automatically use whatever tension is necessary! Watch the video to learn more!
