HAPPY CANADA DAY! Let's kick things off with a HIIT workout! It's a super hot day out and we're right in the middle of a heat wave with an extreme heat alert issued. But that's no reason why we can't still workout. After all, dealing with discomfort is a part of life, like it or not.
One thing about dealing with difficult weather however is understanding how to modify things as necessary. For example, if you're having trouble keeping up with the work/rest times, it can always be changed to allow for more rest. And also understanding balance and the Yin and Yang is important as well. Hardness must be tempered with softness. In fact, if you know what to look for, every exercise has Yin and Yang within it! Think about it. The lifting or positive portion of an exercise represents the Yang. That's associated with hardness, motion, energy, and heat. Whereas the lowering or negative portion of an exercise represents the Yin. This is the softness, stillness (or at least less motion and energy applied), and cold.
The whole concept can really be very interesting to explore, but at the end of the day it's all about BALANCE!
Anyway on to the workout! This is a circuit workout I have named "CRAZY EIGHTS!" Obviously from the name, you probably know that there are eight exercises. Each one is performed for 30 seconds followed by 15 seconds of rest. The exercises are done one after the other in a circuit manner and each complete circuit is done for a total of two to four times. You can rest for one or two minutes between each one. Watch the video to see exactly which exercises are done and how to perform them!
